The Little Raindrop

There was this conversation in Heaven between God and a single raindrop. God had created the raindrop for a specific purpose, but the raindrop couldn't understand the mission God had for him to perform. A period of time had passed and the rain drop had not been used, so he became discouraged. He had seen many raindrops go before him used for different purposes, but yet, God had not used him. His fellow raindrops had fallen to the earth, and then returned back to heaven to tell all sorts of stories of how God had used them. Some said they were used to stop a mighty drought, and others said God used them to create a massive flood.

Still more raindrops returned back to heaven reporting falling on flowers to give them life, and a few even said some of Gods animals consumed them to help sustain their lives. The raindrop even heard stories of being used to cleanse and heal the wounds of people who had been injured. Oh, how this one raindrop wanted to be used by God, but God had not yet seen fit to send him falling into the world.

"Why God have you not used me yet? Am I any less a raindrop than all the other raindrops you have made? I am willing, God, send me !," said the raindrop.

But God said, "I am the Lord God who has made you for a specific purpose. Fear not! I won't forget you. Soon you will be sent into the world, and then you will understand why you have waited so long for that moment. You're special to me, my little raindrop. I wouldn't send you into the world until the time is right for you to go because I have a specific mission set aside just for you to fulfill."

So, the raindrop waited patiently for God to use him. It seemed like he was waiting an eternity, but he decided to make use of his time wisely. When all the other raindrops returned to heaven, he would greet them enthusiastically and listen to all their stories of how God had used them so wonderfully. He welcomed many of his fellow raindrops back into heaven, but as time passed he began to wonder once again when would be his time to be used by God.

Then God spoke, "My precious little raindrop, your time has now come this very hour to fulfill your destiny. Now go, and fall from the heavens down upon the Earth, and I will direct your path."

The little raindrop was thrilled because he'd finally been sent to do Gods will for his life. He leaped out of heaven and began to fall from the sky not knowing where he would be used. Down to the Earth he fell for what seemed like miles. He tried to focus on his destination, but he was just approaching to fast.

Then suddenly, he had come to the end of his search and stopped falling. He was a bit bewildered at first, then began to look around to see how he was being used by God.

"Oh God !! Now I understand why you waited to send me into the world. I've fallen on the face of a man, and I'm washing blood from his brow. He's hanging on a tree, and you sent me to comfort him and wash this blood from his face. But why does he seem so familiar to me?"

The little raindrop paused for a moment to try to get a better look at the face of the man he was comforting.

"Oh God !! It's Jesus, your son!! Forgive me for being so impatient and wanting to be used before my time. Now, I've been able to give the most wonderful gift that I could ever imagine, and that is to wash the face of your beloved son, Jesus ! "
